Crakeside Firewood is a small, independent firewood producer in the south Lake District. We cut, split, dry and bag everything ourselves — sustainably sourced British timber, Ready to Burn certified, and delivered across the South Lakes.
Our story
A firewood business built from the yard up.
Crakeside Firewood began when Charlie and his friend Zeke started splitting logs and selling them locally. A few loads for family, friends and neighbours turned — almost entirely by word of mouth — into the business it is today.
We're only a year in, but we've invested everything back into the yard at Lowick so that all of our firewood production happens here. We don't buy in ready-split wood and re-bag it. Timber comes in as lengths, and our team cuts, splits, dries and bags every log on site.
Doing it this way means we know where every load comes from, and we can be sure it's dry enough to burn cleanly when it reaches your stove.

Timber comes from sustainably managed British woodland — around 90% of it from forests here in Cumbria.
Processed in our own yard
We don't buy in ready-split wood. Every log is cut, split, dried and bagged by our team at the yard in Lowick.
Trade supply welcome
Shops, garages, pubs, campsites and holiday lets — we supply bulk kindling and net bags on regular order.
Dry logs, every load
We kiln dry and barn season our firewood, and nothing leaves the yard above 20% moisture. Dry logs light first time, burn hotter, give off far less smoke and keep your flue clean — you use less wood for more heat.
Proudly British
Our timber comes from sustainably managed woodland and forestry — around 90% of it from right here in Cumbria, and always from British sources. Never imported. It keeps transport miles low, supports local forestry and backs British produce every step of the way.
